Organizational work

 The first step is to install some sort of routine so that the child will develop, slowly but surely, organizational automatisms as well as an effective and consistent working methodology. This translates as follows:

- For school: it is to instill a strong formula for the organization of the agenda of the student, note taking and their presentation.

- For home: We provide an optimal workspace or study environment. A line of conduct, including proper storage of school materials, supplies and other academic tools, is recommended for students and will promote a discipline and good work habits at home, during and outside the tutoring sessions.

  TeMeF Academy provides you with customized academic resources

Note that customized academic resources are put in place by the academic advisor of the family and then they are given to the student in question. The educational material has been rigorously selected by the TeMeF team and this is only thanks to the validation of the 1st step named « evaluation » previously done with your child. The latter has been provided to the student’s family for the proper conduct of the sessions and especially not to lose sight of the objectives set by the child and his/her family and by the TeMeF team, in close continuity with the curriculum of the province.

A targeted development

The duration of each session is 1h30min. The TeMeF tutor starts by a series of educational questions well defined in advance to quickly have an overview of the week and to also have a summary of what has been reviewed in school or from the last tutorial. The whole session is entirely done in French.

For the younger ones, this section allows them to share feelings and emotions they have experienced during events and activities. It is a great way to allow them to express themselves in French what they feel about everything around them in general.

 Once updated, the TeMeF tutor identifies the difficulties encountered in the various disciplines and subjects of study. If the student is already aware of those, they will be explained to the tutor otherwise, it will be determined by the tutor’s examination of the work done in class and by correcting the exercises given earlier by the tutor.

Academic tutoring

The next step is primarily on the academic tutoring. The focus is on homework, reading activities, French writing, mathematics, science (physic, chemistry, biology, astronomy…), development and presentation of projects (research, writing, editing), the application of computer programs or other areas as needed.

Note that the TeMeF Academy method excels and is distinguished by the fact that our expertise and our work takes into account the learning management such as time management, different modes of study and reasoning (learning by heart, visual or hearing memory).

 Academic learning disabilities such as dysphasia (language impairment), memory disorder, dyslexia (reading disorder), dysorthographia (spelling disorder), poor information decoding, dyscalculia (arithmetic disorder) and attention deficit disorder are also to be identified in order to prevent academic failure.

All these important factors are taken into consideration in our tutoring service so that it has to be customized and adapted to your child’s need.

Playful activity also known as

the « relaxing part »

For the younger ones, the tutoring sessions will end on a mode called "the relaxing part". This part is reflected by the use of everyday tools from which the tutor will discuss and develop the different aspects and explain their usefulness. This way of teaching will improve the child’s vocabulary and, consequently, promote his verbal expression in French.

To this could be added the listening of French stories or music, reading of short stories or simulation plays for exampleThe aim is to have fun while learning. Therefore, educational games are also prepared by the academic advisor of the family and provided to the TeMeF tutor for an efficient conduct of tutoring sessions.

 We get in touch with your child's teacher(s)

The TeMeF team regularly comes into contact with your children's teachers to better assess points that need to be developed and improved during the tutoring sessions.

The collaboration with the professors allows us to better focus and refine the academic tutoring for your child.

The TeMeF academic advisor or the tutor of the student will travel to the establishment of the student. It can also be done virtually. The advisor is then warmly welcomed by your child's teacher.

During this meeting, these two (2) educators do an update on the development and academic progress of the student concerned. Indeed, to ensure the academic success of your child, all educational elements that could improve and refine the tutoring sessions are rigorously reviewed. Among these factors we can include:

- The habits of the student such as his/her organization of work;

- His/her time management during projects and exams;

- His/her concentration and participation in class;

- The study of his/her last report cards;

- The presentation of his/her school work;

- His/her motivation from an academic point of view;

- His/her ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and especially independently.

The TeMeF academic advisor plays a coordinating role between the teacher, the tutor, the student and his/her family. At specific times during the school year, contacts with the professors and the teachers of your children (in person, by mail, by telephone) is organized by the TeMeF team to have a good picture of students’ improvement and also to better assess their academic progress.
